The Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre will open Regional Science Centre in Coimbatore and Science Centres at Vellore and Villupuram.
While the Regional Centre at Coimbatore will come up at an outlay of Rs.8.5 crore, a sum of Rs. 4.5 crore had been spent for the Science Centre at Vellore. Both will be opened next year, the Executive Director of Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre, P. Iyyamperumal said.
Speaking after distributing prizes to the winners of the Science talent search contest organised by the Anna Science Centre - Planetarium in the city on Friday, Mr. Iyyamperumal said the Coimbatore regional centre, which would be opened in December next year, would have separate galleries on physical science; environment; mechanics for explaining the principles of domestic electrical utensils such as Air-conditioning equipment, refrigerator; Textiles; science park and an auditorium for conducting sessions.
